Turner House

214 Park Hill DrIVE

The Turner House is one of the gems of Olmos Park and of San Antonio at large. While well known for his design of the modern San Antonio Riverwalk, Hugman was clearly capable of more more than stage set architecture. This is one of the best Spanish Colonial Revival houses in the city, combining the monumental simplicity of the eighteenth-century originals and the inventiveness of the revival. The highlight of the house is the small room topped by a dome on scroll brackets, which appears to have been copied from the great mission church of San Xavier del Bac near Tucson.
